Regional Guides

GI Bill Schools by Region

Region-by-region directories of the universities and colleges where U.S. veterans most often use their GI Bill benefits. Each guide is written with local context, military-base proximity, and the practical realities of studying in that part of the world.

15 of 15 guides published. New regions roll out as they are reviewed by a practicing Senior VASCO.

Why these guides exist

We built these guides for students and veterans evaluating where to use their GI Bill. Each one combines a curated list of universities in the region with a short editorial layer about the local realities that affect Chapter 33 enrollment - military-base proximity, state-level vet tuition waivers, and the certification patterns that show up most often. To understand how the benefit works before picking a school, start with the full Post-9/11 GI Bill guide and estimate your service-percentage rate. Curious about who builds and edits these? About these lists

School lists are sourced from the Hipo Universities Open Dataset and bucketed into regions for VASCO Assistant. Outbound links to university websites use rel="nofollow": these are reference links, not endorsements, and we are not affiliated with any institution listed. For Chapter 33 benefits specifically, eligibility is keyed to your length of qualifying active duty - a quick pass through the eligibility calculator tells you your rate before you pick a school. Foreign institutions still need to be approved under the VA Foreign School Program (WEAMS) for GI Bill use; check with your School Certifying Official before committing.
